Sapa Half Marathon locks in $5,000 for Swim Vietnam

Posted by Vietnam Swans on October 5, 2012

A happy Adrian “Ado” Enright and Dan Hopkins after last Saturday’s Grand Final Party in Hanoi. The day before, Ado announced that $5,000 had been raised for Swim Vietnam from the Sapa Half Marathon.

You will recall that recently, the Hanoi based Swannies and the Hanoi Oi’s netballers, led by Ado Enright ran in the Sapa Half marathon (see Swannies & Oi’s conquer Sapa Half Marathon in run for kids to swim).

Their goal was to raise $5,000 for Swim Vietnam. Last Friday, on Grand Final Eve, Ado reported some great news…

We have just received another 100USD from one of the Saigon Swannies and added an extra bit to get us to USD5,000.

So, we did it! Bloody awesome. That’s over 200 kids in the pool!

Just wanted to say a massive thanks to everyone for getting on board with this. It was an amazing weekend in Sapa, and to be able to raise a bit of cash and, better still, some awareness for Swim Vietnam was a great effort.

Added to this, I think we have been able to achieve a stronger partnership between the Swans and Oi’s which is leading to bigger and better things like the Indo China Cup competitions on 10 November. All really positive!

Congratulations to the Hanoi Oi’s, Hanoi based Swannies, all the donors and of course, Ado. A great effort!
