Black armbands for Nick Shiells’ Grandmother
Posted by Vietnam Swans on June 1, 2011
Last weekend, Joyce Shiells, Grandmother of Swannie Nick Shiells, passed away aged 78.
The funeral service will be held later today and accordingly, as a mark of respect, the Vietnam Swans will wear black armbands at this afternoon’s match against the AFL Masters.
Joice was on Nick’s Dad’s side of the family. Nick’s Dad, Garry, has visited the Swannies along with brothers Brian and Alister. In addition, other members of the Shiells family; Haydan, Brendan, Robyn and Ash have also been part of the Swannies – most recently at the 2011 ANZAC Friendship Match in Vung Tau.
The Swannies will proudly wear the black armbands today in memory of Joyce, together with Peter Roache’s mother who died last month.

Mum would have loved the acknowledgement. We love to catch up with the Swannies on our visits to see Nick. Please continue to look out for Nick for us. Regards, Garry Shiells
