I love how we had a Canadian playing the last post for a combined audience of predominantly Australians, New Zealanders & Vietnamese, but goodness knows how many other nationalities there were present on the day – truly a multi-cultural Friendship Day! First time he’d played it on the trumpet because he’s a trombonist – top job, Kev W!

I think it would have been nice to point out the other people who have also contributed a lot of there time/services raising money for the learn to swim program and local orphanage in Vung Tau (Ray Richardson, Glenn & Trang Nolan and more. Not to mention the organising of the ANZAC day football game in Vung Tau. I know how much of a logistical nightmare it can be/is organising this event. Its a shame the writer never mentioned anything about Tommy’s bar and what went on at Tommy’s on ANZAC day itself. such as the Collingwood/Essendon game, crown & anchor (Which ALL proceeds go towards the local orphanage). Ex Vietnam veterans meeting each other ect. Anyway we do what we do in the spirit of the ANZAC’s and for the children of Vietnam…

Steve, you are absolutely right about Glenn and Trang Nolan from Tommy’s Bar who do an amazing amount of work to make the ANZAC Weekend such a success in terms of logistics, organising volunteers and raising money for charity.
And there’s a long list of others who also do a ton of work.
The ANZAC Friendship Weekend is such a special and successful weekend because of the army of volunteers that make it happen each year.
