Congratulations to the 24 players and 3 emergencies selected to represent the Swans at next weekend’s in Vung Tau.

Once again Captained by the Swans’ inspirational Captain Billy Crang, the only player in the squad to have played every ANZAC match, the Swans will be keen to overturn the 2013 result when they lost to the Bintangs 59-69 in the Club’s only defeat in Vung Tau.

“Picking the ANZAC team is one of the hardest jobs for the footy department each season. A home game, so much significance and all of a sudden 80 blokes put their hands up. This year was no different. I think the squad we have represents the effort a lot of blokes have put in and is a strong team who should feel confident going into this weekend.” Crang said.

“Special call outs to Lukey T who has adapted to the game so well that he is now genuinely unlucky to be an emergency, big Irishman Robbie Scott who has thrown himself 100% at the Swans in his short time in Vietnam and had a great first full hitout against Malaysia last week and Kerro who turned heads and definitely raised his name to the cusp of selection with some great defensive play. All our emergencies and the next 5 do probably deserve slots given the effort and talent put in. A week is a long time in Asian footy so we don’t know how many emergencies will get the call up. Regardless, that’s why we have the Legends vs All Stars match and I’ll be keeping a keen eye on some of those guys dominating and keeping their momentum going for the huge tournaments coming up fast on us.” Crang said.

Featuring in this squad will be one of the Swannies new local development players Nguyen Quang Vinh who was proud to be selected on this important day, posting “I am proud to be selected to play for the Vietnam Swans on such a meaningful game next weekend.” on his facebook page.

Also selected are international representatives Vaughan Swart from Canada and Neil Heiney from Ireland.

The Bintangs will come into the game in great form, with solid wins against the Philippine Eagles yesterday and the Malaysian Warriors a few weeks earlier, making this their 3rd international in 4 weeks, unheard of in AFL Asia history.

It should be a cracking game and one not to be missed. For all the details on the game and the McMillan Dinner on Saturday night visit the Swans 2016 ANZAC webpage.
