Taber Talk tanks

Posted by Vietnam Swans on September 3, 2007

Barely a few weeks into the job, the opinionated Taber has already missed his Monday morning deadline for getting the AFL Wrap to the Swans Blog.

Perhaps we might start expressing a few opinions of our own.

However, in fairness to him, he did put in a big weekend. As Hanoi’s sole representative in the Vietnam Swans team this weekend, he did fly down to Saigon on Saturday morning with 20 pairs of red shorts. During the match he was a sensation to such an extent that the Dragons - after describing him as “the Old Boy” – voted him as the Swans Best Player.

Off the ground, DT was solid as per usual. There wasn’t a chance that the shrewd Old Boy would be caught sipping strawberry tea at midnight - like poor Captain Gus last year.

Taber’s currently en route from Saigon to Hanoi.

Pick the Sponsors for Hanoi’s AFL Grand Final Party

Posted by Vietnam Swans on September 3, 2007

With just 26 days to go before the Vietnam Swans AFL Grand Final Party in Hanoi, here’s your chance at picking who our sponsors are with the cryptic crossword below (which doesn’t even include Chi Linh Golf Course – 8 rounds of golf, transport and beer; and Buffalo Tours – details later):

Down:

1. Kentucky Bourbon – Like this bourbon which is a fine long term sponsor of the Swans, the Swanettes are Just the Best

3. Wine Shop – In a communist country, Red is my favourite colour. And, at the Barbie, I always wear an Apron

4. International Removalist – Move all the way with JV? (when thinking of the 3rd letter, think of “K”).

6. Restaurant – On Cat Ba Island. Others will be Green with envy as you eat everything from tender, succulent steaks to sweet Mangos

7. Renowned for its clear thinking, this legal firm is the former Phillips Fox. We just need you to come up with the 3 letters from Allens Arthur Robinson

8. Beer – Forget the name sake AFL club that’s a cellar dweller. You will feel as invincible as Tiger Woods as you enjoy this top drop of a beer.

9. Insurance – Sponsor of both the Sydney and Vietnam Swans. You’re not the Queen. BE insured.

Across

2. Travel – Opposing teams need to be fairly Intrepid facing the Vietnam Swans. But if you use this travel company it’s stress free all the way.

5. Engineering – You won’t get this one, so pick the one missing vowel in the company name,”Vam*d” (think of e-very vowel you can).

7. This company has a Building Materials Centre with all sorts of bathroom items. Makes its name combining Australia and Vietnam

9. Real Estate – It has nothing to do with CB radios but everything to do with Real Estate
