The Champs – Redraw on 9 July

Posted by Vietnam Swans on July 1, 2007

The redraw for the Asian Champs is scheduled to take place in Bangkok on Monday, 9 July.

You may recall that the Organising Committee had earlier done a draw based on seedings. However, a number of clubs registered their interest in a new random draw (as has been done in every other Asian Champs). Enough clubs supported the idea of the redraw and so that is what will happen.

Player Profile: Scott Beasley, Saigon

Posted by Vietnam Swans on July 1, 2007

Judging by the photos, Bluescope Beasley is arguably the best looking Swan in the team.

Is expected to use his attacking style of play off the field which will render swooning women in his gaze helpless.

At just 36 years of age, 185cm tall and 94 kgs, will be a slippery contender for his direct opponent. Can sweat by the bucket-load.

Claims to come from Collingwood Premiership Player stock, but grew up playing that “nancy boy” sport, Rugby Union in Queensland. Always been a back man and enjoys bursting forward from the half-backline.

Played several games for Malaysia in Season 1999/2000 and has already given Coach Stacey lots of advice about the Warriors’ game plans from 8 years ago.

Kentucky Winner

Posted by Vietnam Swans on July 1, 2007

Last night Jody Condra, an American, won the Jim Beam Raffle. Jody’s not an ordinary American because he lives in Kentucky, just half an hour’s drive from fellow Swans supporter, Will Sandman. More importantly, he’s just one hour’s drive from the Jim Beam distillery.

Jody says proudly that he “grew up drinking Jim Beam”. He adds that he plans to drink his new 4.5 litre mega bottle  during the next Kentucky Derby. For the Derby, it’s tradition that you drink a lot of “Mint Tulips” (Jim Beam, mint and sugar) with a lot of friends.

So when’s the next Kentucky Derby we excitedly asked? Not until May.

May-be, by then, Jody will have a Mega bottle without 4.5 litres of JB. Hearin’ me?
