Swans Hit Hanoi and HCMC tonight

Posted by Vietnam Swans on July 6, 2007

Remember Kevan Dacey last week as he stood under the picture marked, “The Greatest”? Remember the controversy? The confusion? Remember the unadulterated excitement??

First he drew his own name from “the hat” – and donated the 4.5 litre Mega Jim Beam bottle back to the Club. Then he drew his friend and previous winner, Kerry Armstrong – who also donated it back to the Club. Then, in a gift of charity, he drew Brian the Irishman’s name.

Well, tonight we’re back on again – but this time we add Hanoi!

Tonight at Jaspas in Hanoi, a Jim Beam party will be held commencing from 6pm. The Party Crew (Swanettes) will be there, the Jim Beam will be flowing and a Mega bottle will be raffled. Thank you Jaspas and Jim.

The OfficeUnfortunately, for those in Saigon, if you want to have a time that’s good enough to bottle, we’ll have to go back to The Office. That’s right, turn up to The Office tonight and (tomorrow night) for your chance to meet the Swanettes and players from the Swans (How good is that?) and possibly win a Mega Jim Beam. Thank you to The Office and Jim.

Player Profile – Alex “Ronnie” Barker, Vientianne

Posted by Vietnam Swans on July 6, 2007

What’s 28 years old, 190cm tall and weighs in at 83kgs? An absolute fitness machine known as Alex “Ronnie” Barker.

This guy loves to put his hands on anything which makes him so dangerous on the paddock when he’s chasing a bit of leather.

According to his official player profile, “Ronnie”, the long time Ponsford-stand stalwart for Collingwood had 3 seasons in Northern Japan before being traded to Laos in a deal rumoured to be worth not much. Highly mobile and courageous on or off the paddock, this versatile player combines finesse with a bit of argy-bargy and can prove a handy wingman. The former Monash Blues rep and Green Week Jester isn’t afraid of netballers (we haven’t asked the netballers for their thoughts), nor donning their skirts.

Judging by the photo, it’s not just the netballers who need to be afraid. Hearin’ me?
