Ticker Tape Parade in Hanoi

Posted by Vietnam Swans on July 20, 2007

Today in Hanoi, the City turned on a magnificent show of support for the Hanoi-based Swans with a ticker tape parade.

It seemed more like a Grand Final Parade in Melbourne with the crowd up to 6 deep in places. Police estimate the crowd to have been “at least 100,000″.

Mr Nguyen, Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee, addressed the Swans in front of an adoring crowd. Mr Nguyen said that the Swans had captured the hearts of the nation with the mega merger of North and South to form a combined Vietnam Aussie Rules Team.

Mr Nguyen added that until the arrival of the Vietnam Swans he had only ever wanted to watch “the beautiful game”. But now, “I think I prefer your game because it is very awesome”.

The Vice Chairman of the People’s Committee, coincidentally, also named Mr Nguyen, then presented the players with a picture of Uncle Ho.

Jezza says: “Wins guaranteed” for Swans

Posted by Vietnam Swans on July 20, 2007

Every Club has its staunch supporters and the Swans are no different. Yesterday, the Vietnam Swans received an email from Jeremy Palmer who has played one game for the Swans – last year when we recorded our first victory which was against the Jakarta Bintangs.

Jez played a key role in that victory and we did try hard to tempt him to play with us again in the Champs. Unfortunately, work commitments in the Middle East prevented him from joining us. His email follows:

Bloody spewing I couldn’t come! Next year, we’ll clock up our first couple of wins guaranteed. Great work by all of you boys.

As I continue to tell people, despite all the footy I played on Australian soil, the game I played with the Swans was still the most enjoyable football experience I have had. The sheer enthusiasm of the boys and the fact that everyone was great mates off the field just makes it impossible not to enjoy a Swans experience.

Great game, great blokes…

Go Jez and Go Swannies!

Chinese blog knocks off Swans

Posted by Vietnam Swans on July 20, 2007

In unheard of news, it’s been announced that Ms Xu Jinglei, a former Chinese actress and now director has just become the world’s most widely read notching up 100 million page views in the last 600 days.

This makes her blog even more popular than the Vietnam Swans blog which has recorded more than 1,700 hits in the past 13 days.

According to an article in , Xu “who has a reputation for a high intellect and integrity, has done it without writing about sex or providing a catalogue of kiss and tell stories – but focusing on her work and day to day life.”

Interestingly, these are the hallmarks of the Swans Blog.

Only 99,995,271 hits to catch up to Ms Xu.

In other news, Sex Kitten tells of wild, all-night sex romp on yacht under Harbour Bridge…
