Jaspas, Jim Beam, Hanoi and His Munificence

Posted by Vietnam Swans on July 10, 2007

For those of you unlucky enough not to be in Hanoi last Friday night for Jaspas, Jim Beam and His Munificence, do not despair completely.

Growds has been able to give us an eyewitness account:

“With the merchants of Saigon having shown the way in truly excellent style, the Powerbrokers of Hanoi finally got their act together and laid on a big night at JASPAS last Friday night to try and raise a few final extra $’s for the Swans’ trip to Bangers…

“The crowd was also boosted emotionally, spiritually and in so many other ways by the presence of none other than super coach, His Munificence, Scott Stacey, who came in to size up the Hanoi horseflesh and pass on some time honoured tips in advance of the big game…”

Of course, a big thanks to our sponsors Jim Beam and long-time Swans supporter, JASPAS, for helping the Swans this way.

Player Profile: Mick Hassett (Aker), Laos

Posted by Vietnam Swans on July 10, 2007

Mick Hassett is apparently also known as “Aker” or “Hollywood” depending upon which email we’re reading from our streamlined Elephant friends across the border in Laos.

His photograph has become one of the most talked about photographs in Asian football after it appeared on this blog under the name of Alex Ronnie Barker.

So, just exactly who is this Hollywood Ak(t)er? The Swans Blog undertook to find out.

The Blog can now report that Mick is 35 years, 175cm and weighs 76kgs. Hassett is an “excellent link man with silky smooth skills. Dangerous up forward, dour down back, strong hands in the air and around the packs this man has all the hallmarks of an experienced rookie”.

We may not understand why he uses so many names, but at least we now understand why his photograph is so talked about.
