In news just to hand, the Organising Commitee for the 2007 Asian Championships has just announced that the final numbers for each match squad will now be 16 Players plus 8 Interchange Players.
Originally it was to have been 14 + 8 but, just repeating, it will now be 16 + 8.
More details later when our slack journo has more time.
Also we are expecting the draw for the Champs to happen tonight. Expect another “Breaking News” story.

Scott Beasley, with nerves of Bluescope Steel, was last night elected unanimously as Saigon’s Captain for the upcoming Asian Champs. He will join co Captains, Gus McEwin from Hanoi and “someone else” from the rest of Indochina.
There was high drama at Saigon’s RMIT last night when 13 turned up for the last training session prior to our trip to Bangkok. The two Scotts, Stacey and Beasley, were chasing the leather during a scratchie when their limbs became entangled. Beasley came up with blood pouring from his nose. Fortunately, it was not broken and we are confident the ladies will remain vulnerable in his presence.
Meanwhile, the touring squad has had a couple of changes. Saigon’s Rusty Williams and Hanoi’s Jim Bullard have both had to declare themselves unavailable because of work commitments. Muscle man, Richard Turner from Saigon has also warned that he is a 95 per cent non starter.
Accordingly, Peter Grave from Saigon who has been a stalwart supporter since arriving in Vietnam a couple of months ago, has been called up. Pete has attended most of the training sessions in that time and has actively raised money for the Club in the Jim Beam raffles.
Additionally, airline pilot Matt Wenke, is available and, with arms like wings, will fly for the Swans again. Risking excommunication from his Saigon brothers at the last Saigon V Hanoi match, Matt played for the Swans. A brave act indeed from this man, but then, he only knows two speeds – flat chat or stopped.
